Questions
How It Works
How long does a garage epoxy floor take to install?
Most single-car garages take one to two days for surface profiling, crack repair, and coating. Cure time before vehicle traffic is typically 48 to 72 hours, depending on slab temperature. Your written estimate will include the exact cure schedule for your job.
What happens if I skip the surface profiling step?
Without mechanical profiling, the primer bonds only chemically to the slab. Tire load, heat cycling, and any flex in the concrete will eventually break that bond. Peeling and delamination follow, often within the first year. Proper diamond grinding is the step that prevents this.
Can epoxy be applied over an existing painted or coated garage floor?
Existing coatings must be ground off before a new epoxy system goes down. Applying over an old coating transfers any adhesion failure in that layer to the new one. The on-site assessment will identify what is on the slab and what prep is required.
Does Phoenix heat affect how long the coating lasts?
Extreme slab temperatures shorten pot life and can cause a coat to skin over before it has fully cured. Installers time each coat to the slab temperature, not just the air temperature, to avoid trapping solvents. This is covered in the cure schedule in your written estimate.
Is a moisture vapor barrier always needed?
Not always. The on-site assessment includes a check for vapor pressure. Where moisture is present, a barrier coat is added before the base coat. Skipping this step on a slab with vapor pressure leads to bubbling under the topcoat, which cannot be fixed without stripping the floor.
How do I get a price for my garage floor?
Submit an enquiry describing your slab size and condition. A local installer will arrange an on-site visit, assess the slab, and provide a written estimate covering surface profiling, any crack repair, coating layers, and the projected timeline. No work is scheduled until you approve the estimate.
