Metallic Epoxy Flooring Questions

Every question we get asked about metallic epoxy flooring, answered straight.

Questions

How It Works

Can I choose the color and sheen level before the work starts?

Yes. The written estimate specifies the pigment color and topcoat sheen, matte, satin, or high gloss, before any work is scheduled. Changes after application begins are not possible, so the color selection is confirmed at the estimate stage.

How long before I can walk on the floor after installation?

Light foot traffic is typically possible within 24 hours, but the topcoat needs 72 hours before furniture or heavy loads are placed on it. Your written estimate will state the exact cure time for the specific products used on your job.

What happens if I delay fixing a cracked slab before coating?

Cracks left unrepaired telegraph through the translucent metallic layer and worsen over time as the coating flexes. Repairing the metallic coat after installation costs significantly more than filling cracks before the primer goes down.

Is metallic epoxy suitable for garage floors in Phoenix?

Yes, but the slab must be tested for moisture vapor transmission first. Phoenix monsoon season raises ground moisture, which can cause delamination if a moisture vapor barrier is skipped. The on-site assessment checks for this before any coating is specified.

Will the pattern look the same as a photo I saw online?

No two metallic epoxy floors are identical. Pigment movement depends on the installer’s technique and your slab’s texture, so the result is always unique. The installer can target a general style, marbled, lava-flow, or cloud, but an exact match to another floor is not possible.

How do I maintain a metallic epoxy floor?

Sweep or dust-mop regularly and clean spills with a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid abrasive scrubbers, which scratch the topcoat. The topcoat is the protective layer, if it dulls over years of use, it can be recoated without stripping the metallic base coat underneath.
