How It Works

How flat does self-leveling concrete get?

A correctly poured self-leveling compound corrects a slab to within 3/16 inch across the surface. The on-site assessment measures existing low spots so the pour depth is calculated accurately before work begins.

How long before I can walk on it or apply a finish coat?

In typical Phoenix conditions the compound is hard enough to walk on within a few hours and ready for an epoxy or tile finish within 24 hours. Cure time is confirmed in the written estimate based on pour depth and ambient temperature.

What happens if I skip self-leveling and coat an uneven slab?

Finish coatings applied to an uneven slab crack at the low spots as the coating flexes under load. Water pools in depressions and works under the coating edge, causing delamination. Recoating a failed floor costs more than leveling it first.

Does Phoenix heat cause problems with the pour?

High slab temperatures shorten the compound’s working time and can cause surface crazing. Installers schedule pours outside peak afternoon heat and use a retarder when needed to keep the compound workable long enough to flow flat.

Do existing cracks need to be fixed before pouring?

Yes. Cracks in the existing slab are filled and cured before the compound is poured. Skipping this step allows cracks to telegraph through the self-leveling layer and into the finish coat above it.

What finish systems can go over self-leveling concrete?

Once cured, the surface accepts epoxy base coats, polished concrete, ceramic or porcelain tile, and most other floor coatings. The finish system is specified in the written estimate alongside the self-leveling scope.
